Three generations of plastic craftsmanship

Mundi Plastics was founded in 1955 β€” in Amsterdam, producing a new kind of sliding plastic box for painkillers. What started as a single injection-moulded product has, over seven decades, grown into a production partner for customers around the world. What stayed the same in all those years: personal attention, short lines, and the conviction that a good product starts with a good conversation.

Our timeline

70 years of Mundi Plastics in a nutshell

  1. 1955
    Founded in Amsterdam
A contract packer needs a new sliding plastic box for painkillers. The design is made in-house β€” and on 1 October 1955, Mundi Plastics is founded to produce it.
  2. 1967
    Move to Haarlem
Mundi Plastics grows and becomes an independent business. Plastic injection moulding becomes the core activity.
  3. 1977
    Move to Ophemert
After 10 years in Haarlem we need more space. We move to Ophemert, in the heart of the Netherlands β€” central for customers and logistics.
  4. 1980
    Focus on technical products
From the 1980s the focus shifts towards technical plastic parts. Today these represent over 90% of what we make.
  5. Today
    Worldwide delivery from Ophemert
A wide variety of products in virtually any technical thermoplastic leaves our factory daily. Modern machine park (200–1,500 kN), customers around the world β€” and the same family at the helm.
What drives us

We like to make things that work

A part that fits, a series that rolls out of the machine on time, a customer who comes back with the next project. That's what it's about for us β€” being involved in every project, from first sketch to repeat order.

In seven decades the products, materials and machines have changed dramatically. What started with a single sliding box for painkillers has grown into hundreds of different technical parts in virtually any conceivable thermoplastic. What never changed: how a good collaboration begins β€” with a conversation and genuine interest in what the customer wants to achieve.

We have no ISO certification or other quality marks. That's a deliberate choice. We'd rather invest in people, machines and direct lines with customers than in audits and bureaucracy. The proof of our quality lies in 70 years of customer relationships, in products that have been running flawlessly for decades, and in a factory visit you can come and take yourself.

That's what we stand for.

Our machine park

Modern, automated, broadly capable

Our machines range from 200 to 1,500 kN clamping force, equipped with fully automated peripheral systems (robot removal, quality control, palletising).

Indicative image β€” our own photography of the machine park will follow after the planned photoshoot.

200-400 kN

Small, precise parts. Knobs, clips, haberdashery, small technical parts.

400-900 kN

Medium work: housings, covers, mechanical parts, display components.

900-1,500 kN

Larger products or complex multi-cavity moulds for higher production volumes.

"An hour-long factory visit in Ophemert is almost always the best start of a collaboration."β€” PATRICK LUKING Β· MANAGEMENT MUNDI PLASTICS
